I like to make hard metal surfaces appear soft and light and transparent. I have been playing with using mesh layers in my work for a while now. I like that they create fun optical illusions. Those simple patterns stacked across multiple layers start to visually overlap and create these elaborate elegant patterns that ripple and dance across the surface of the piece as the viewer moves around it. And at night there is a solar powered light that sways in the wind to light up the inside of the piece and that really makes the optical illusions stand out.
